To celebrate the beginning of Fall 2020, I decided to pamper myself with a Spa day in Zurich. The Dolder Grand Spa is a great option, thanks to its prime location and huge facilities. Gym, café, library, indoor and outdoor pools, hammam, sauna, solarium… An amazing destination.
I already had the chance to stay at the luxurious Dolder Grand in the past. Not only a five-star hotel, that’s also a great place for relaxation and indulgence thanks to its 4,000 sqm of space.
The Spa is located on the basement, but it still offers outstanding Zurich Lake views as well as surrounding mountains. The beautiful dedicated terrace even proposes two outdoor basins (one cold, one hot) and a heated jacuzzi.
This is why I decided to spend an entire day at the Dolder Grand Spa and enjoy some La Prairie skincare treatments: a 60min Caviar Massage (body) and a 90min Art of Beauty (facial).
10.30am. I arrived early at the Dolder Grand Spa. Since the hotel is located away from the city center on a hilltop, I took a Uber from the nearest train station (Zürich Stadelhofen).
Check-in was smooth, an Assistant explained me all facilities through a Spa tour and reminded me the due times for my treatments. I received slippers and bathrobe before heading to men locker room.
Cardio and weight training
10.30am to 12.30pm. I started the journey with my daily cardio and weight training. The Gym Center uses state-of-art Technogym machines and even if it’s not very large, I have not been disturbed by many guests.
After this intense and sweating session, I went to men’s wet area to detoxify my skin. It is composed of a hammam, sauna, two jacuzzis and a cold water basin. Complimentary tea and healthy delicacies are available in this area.
Light lunch at the Lobby
12.30pm to 2.00pm. I quickly showered, changed again and went to the Ground floor to have lunch at the Lobby. Contrary to Saltz restaurant, the Lobby menu is quite casual and international.
I stayed in an healthy mood, so I took a few peanuts and ordered a Ceasar Salad with chicken. Homemade (of course) with slices of grilled chicken, it was really good and light. If you plan in advance, I recommend to book a table outside to enjoy Zurich’s landscape.
Chill on pool side
2.00pm to 3.00pm. After lunch I went back to the Spa to go swimming in the large indoor pool. This mixed area also features a snow room (!), some single and couple stone beds as well as another sauna.
There are only a few sun loungers available inside, but fortunately it was sunny that day so I could enjoy the Spa terrace. This terrace is a true gem. You can plunge into the jacuzzi, chill, admire the view and do a bit of sunbathing. Just perfect!
60min Caviar Massage by La Prairie
3.00pm to 4.00pm. The body Caviar Massage by La Prairie uses the unique Skin Caviar skincare collection. Infused with true caviar extracts, it increases skin’s firmness and elasticity.
The treatment room was dedicated to body massages, designed with a lovely fireplace and refreshing white tones. The massage itself, performed by a therapist trained to La Prairie products, was very soothing. I really love the smell of Skin Caviar cream and its light texture!
90min Art of Beauty by La Prairie
4.15pm to 5.45pm. I had a short break after by body massage, and then another therapist brought me to a room dedicated to La Prairie facial treatments. It was featuring all La Prairie collections.
After a quick visual check, the therapist proposed to go on with Skin Caviar Lifting and Firming ritual for an immediate tightened and toned effect. If you have a preference, be aware that you can choose between Skin Caviar, White Caviar and Gold Radiance collections. Platinum is available at a higher price.
I experienced 15-20min of skin preparation, with a mineral scrub cleansing and the elimination of a few nose blackheads. My face was ready for the Skin Caviar Essence-In-Lotion and a 20min Skin Caviar Luxe Mask. The therapist performed a hand massage in the meantime.
Finally, after removing the mask she went for facial moisturizing with the Skin Caviar Absolute Filler and Skin Caviar Eye Complex. At the end, my face was visibly lifted, toned and rejuvenated.
5.45pm to 6.30pm. To give an end to that journey, I plunged again into the outdoor jacuzzi, as well as the hot water basin, to be the spectator of a magnificent sunset. I just paid attention to not get my face wet, so I could keep the facial treatment benefits.
At the Dolder Grand Spa, a day package starts at 420 CHF on weekends with unlimited access of facilities. That’s a very good rate considering the size, the numerous wet areas and the five-star service you get. Therapists are very well trained, and I especially recommend to go for La Prairie treatments if you want to live the finest experience. Best place for indulgence in Zurich!
