This 5-star hotel is located in the heart of the bustling city with gorgeous harbor views and award-winning dining: it’s the perfect escape.
Intercontinental Sydney has lent luxury to the harbor city providing locals and visitors the opportunity to discover the experiences that make Sydney one of the best places to live and stay. This luxury hotel is adjacent to world-class harbor and exceptional views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Pictures don’t do it justice. The combination of history found in the facades of the hotel’s Treasury Building, originally built in 1851 and the gourmet dining experiences in InterContinental’s three restaurants make it the perfect location for a weekend of indulgence.
LivingThe proximity to Circular Quay gave us the opportunity to stroll along the beautiful harbour and take in the city sights.
Our choice of room gave us access to Club InterContinental which offers cocktail hours or the Supper Club featuring a lounge setting and 27 champagnes from Taittinger to Duval, Leroy to Ruinart. It is the perfect spot for a mid-evening champagne toast and the terrace provides a 360º view of the world’s most stunning harbor.
Our room was the Australia Suite and it did not disappoint ; it was exactly what we had hoped for and more. The decor in the 245 square meter room is best described as modern luxe that is both contemporary yet comfortable. An open-air terrace with dining was perfect for enjoying a romantic cocktail. We thoroughly enjoyed being above the city and looking out on the panoramic harbor views.
The InterContinental Sydney plays host to three exceptional restaurants all of which are manned by an award winning culinary team. Our dining experience was 117 Dining, a VIP restaurant offering a slew of palatable delights. The dishes feature an Asian flare comprised of the highest quality local seafood and livestock. We could tell the passion their chefs have for choosing the flavours of the season.
If you’re looking for something for casual Café Opera is your go to spot. They offer one of the best buffets in Sydney namely their Seafood Dinner Buffet which features an array of seasonal seafood from the world-renowned Sydney Fish Market. The dinner buffet is offered on Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.
We also partook in a traditional and have High Tea at The Cortile, which is hosted in their soaring atrium with tiered sandstone arcades and historical surroundings. The exceptional High Tea featured the freshest product alongside a plethora of pastries and sweets. We particularly enjoyed the bubbles and assorted French macarons.
Level of exigency
Their exceptional staff provide a high level of service from check-in to departure. The attention to detail and award-winning hospitality make the InterContinental Sydney an amazing choice for vacation or staycation. We enjoyed seeing our hometown in a different light and we’ll definitely be back again.
