Macau is the capital of gambling in Asia and like Las Vegas it has a large offer in term of luxury accomodations, in a quite small area. Among all of them we decided to stay at Banyan Tree Macau, trusting the spa-design reputation of the brand. And we were right.
After Phuket and Bangkok, Banyan Tree Macau is the third residence of the group we stayed in. We felt the same calm and serene atmosphere in all of them, which worth the visit for anyone needing a relaxation parenthesis away from work or a busy life. Then for sure it can appear paradoxical to have such property in the Asian capital of gambling but actually it’s coherent: having fun and pamper yourself are part of a Macau getaway. And being located in the opulent Galaxy mall, Banyan Tree Macau is completely in that philosophy.
Front doors are located on right end of Galaxy mall and offers an intimate entrance to Banyan Tree Macau. Of course, it’s also possible to access the lobby from the mall shopping & gambling area, which is quite convenient. Spa and poolside area are just above, they represents the heart of family entertainment at Galaxy Macau ; indeed, a huge main pool is common to all Galaxy hotels – Banyan Tree, Okra, Ritz-Carlton – with transats, a bar and a restaurant. A private zone is dedicated to Banyan Tree Macau guests with its own pool and surprising cabanas available for rent.
For people who want to leave the resort, a complimentary shuttle can bring them to city center – or even the airport – every 15 minutes and take them back. Very smart attention for a luxury complex a bit far from cultural activities.
Banyan Tree Macau is a full-suite property, the only one in the city ; we stayed in the first category – a Grand Cotai Suite, around 100sqm – where we found the usual spa-inspired Banyan design and a fantastic indoor relaxation pool at 28°C. We definitely don’t feel like in a hotel here, but in a peaceful resort far away from the crowded China where time stands still. The spacious living room is an invitation to indulgence and serenity, while the bathroom is up to brand’s reputation: large walk-in shower, double sinks and an incredible custom wooden bathtub. Wow. One tip: ask for a special arrangement either for the relaxation pool or the bath, it will be a memorable experience!
Banyan Tree Macau offers three kinds of dining experience: Saffron, the hotel’s signature restaurant awarded for its Thai cooking and opened in the morning for breakfast, Cabana and its finger food at poolside – the beef burger is really amazing – and finally Belon, a very chic place at the top of the hotel serving avant-garde fine dining. This last one was absolutely stunning ; we ordered some Saint-Jacques with caviar oscietra for appetizer and a USDA Prime New York strip loin as main dish, a perfect dinner!
Level of exigency
Banyan Tree hotels group has a reputation of a good service quality and Macau is no exception. All the staff speak English very well, doormen and receptionists are helpful and anticipates your needs while housekeeping is able to make the – huge – room in a short timing. Among all luxury hotels in Taipai, Banyan Tree Macau is definitely the finest one and the most exclusive.[infobox maintitle=”Videos” subtitle=”see more on Youtube” bg=”gray” color=”black” opacity=”off” space=”30″ link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5Cb5QDCdAg”]
