Reinventing luxury in the world capital of luxury is not an easy thing. W Paris Opera brings a new vision of high-end hospitality – coming from US – in one of the best location of the capital.
Opened few years ago in the heart of Paris, W Paris Opera is actually the first W location in France. It establishes a unique concept of “hipster luxury” in the capital of elegance, mixing the beauty of a historical 1870s Haussmann building to an avant-garde interior design. The overall is definitely not the most luxurious place of the city but still surprising and represents an interesting alternative to the plethora offer of traditional and classy five-star Parisian hotels.
Despite its great location and beautiful building, W Paris Opera is quite small with few common areas. Let’s say it’s straight to the point: one hotel, one restaurant, some rooms. Lobby’s size is no exception; fortunately, the famous hype/trendy design of W Hotels group helps to make this site special and unusual.
A fitness room is available at the top floor and allows to do exercises looking at Paris’ roofs. So romantic!
Our Marvelous Suite was built like a studio with a partition splitting bedroom and living room. Not the standard “suite” definition for sure, but still convenient in a very baroque-modern style with its minimalist decoration and furnitures. You should ask for a bathtub if you really want to get one, as I guess only a few rooms is equipped.
I would also advise to book a room facing directly the Opera otherwise you will get a strong vis-a-vis, especially on Meyerbeer street.
We only enjoyed breakfast at Coquette, the restaurant of W Paris Opera. Food selection should satisfy everyone, since it covers European, American and Asian tastes; however I recommend to book a fare including breakfast because its value for money (39 euros) is… not the best.
I would have try the W Burger as it seems to be a main piece of their lunch and dinner menu, I guess a casual dining with friends or colleagues could be the perfect occasion.
Level of exigency
Well, ok, you know probably that W Hotels are also famous for their young and attractive staff employees. W Paris Opera is no exception and that’s a pleasure for the eyes, but unfortunately it doesn’t come there with a high level of service quality. I do really hope the top management will improve this key point in a near future, because I believe service always makes the difference in hospitality industry.
Stay from December 22nd to 23rd, 2016 – Non-sponsored media visit.
W Paris Opera opened in February 2012 and is composed of 91 room and suites. We stayed in a Marvelous Suite – around 32sqm large – which public rates starts at EUR650/night.
